Christmas Holidays

I am a grandmother again - another delightful little boy. It amazes me the depth of feeling a new baby can evoke.

I love having cuddles and he seems an easy baby to comfort. Hopefully he will grow up just like his brother.

Precious.

Hooray for Gardening

I am stoked, we have finished what we planned in the garden. It was a big job really, nearly 150 metres of rock walling, steps and garden beds.

The last thing was to plant lawn runners, and now nearly two weeks later, I am convinced that the lawn will GROW!!!

I hardly know what to do with myself, the weeds are all pulled, the grass is slashed, the vegetable garden is bearing, all the new crops are coming up, the fish are happy.

I guess all that is left is to nurse the arthritis, massage the sore muscles, and rest.

June long weekend

A busy time - we went to Perth and stayed with my son and daughter-in-law to help them with a Garage Sale. We slept on their floor on our new self-inflating mattress and sleeping bags. It was quite comfortable really.

Then when we came home we continued building the rock steps leading down to the bottom of our garden. It is a big job but we will be sensible about it and not work too strenuously this time.

On Monday I continued moving the dirt from the washaways into the pit that will be the stairs. I'm getting very good at shovelling in rhythm!!

Easter Holidays

Darwin was great. I caught up with several friends from the past and did all the things that we planned like having lunch on Stokes Hill Wharf and going swimming in Buley Rock Hole in Litchfield National Park.

Easter Holidays are coming up at the end of next week, and I can't wait. This term seems to have been sooooo long!!!

Term Time

I have begun my work with the students now and as yet have not had a chance to introduce them to blogging.

Quite a few of them have not returned their IT policy form to school and this means that they don't have IT access, very frustrating when there is something really interesting to do on computers and half of the group can't log on.

I am going to Darwin on Wednesday. I am really looking forward to sitting at an outside table in the Trailer Boat Club sipping a beer and watching the exquisite sunset. It is going to be great.

I know it is still in the "Wet Season" up there, but I have always preferred the "Wet" to the "Dry" anyway, everything grows better and looks clean and fresh rather than hot and dusty.

A great break away in the middle of term to refresh oneself and be ready for anything!

Last days

Today is the last day of my Christmas school holidays. It has been a good holiday really, lots of time spent with family and friends.

We have achieved quite a lot around the house and garden as well which pleases me. Maybe I will get out in the garden and do a bit more on the rock retaining wall today too.

I have been planning some of the lessons for this year's Yr 8 students in my head as well - until I meet the students and know what they are interested in I won't lock anything in place.

I am a little apprehensive as I always am at the start to the year. I know that once I get into the swing of things it will be OK.

Getting started

Why would an ordinary everyday type of person want to publish on a blog site?

Do I think I have wonderful wise things to say that people would want to read?

Perhaps not, but I wanted an interesting way for my students to communicate with me, and I wanted to encourage them to write more.

Will it work?

We will have to wait and see.
